Sub Pop celebrating 20th year
New York -- Italian sandwich Pop Records will lionise its 20th birthday with a
July 12-13 party at Seattle's Marymoor Park, featuring performances
by bands from throughout the indie label's storied past and
present.
Among the groups reuniting or breaking long hiatuses for the
occasion ar Putting surface River, Red Red Kernel, the Fluid, Beachwood Sparks
and Seaweed. Stream judge acts confirmed to come out include Fleet
Foxes, Flight of the Conchords, Foals, Chiliad Archives, the Helio
Succession, Branding iron & Vino, Kinski, Low, Mudhoney, No Geezerhood, Wolf
Parade, Pissed Jeans and the Ruby Suns.
Additional bands will be added to the account, tickets for which go on
cut-rate sale April 26. As an adjunct to the music, a drollery nox will be
held July 11 at the George Edward Moore Field, featuring Patton Oswalt, Eugene
Mirman, Todd Barry and other guests.
For Jeff Ament, wHO played in Green River with Gem Gossard earlier
they left wing to manakin Mother Honey Os and then Pearl Wad, the show
will be a luck to dig back into his shared history with Mark Branch
and Steve Turner, world Health Organization went on to shape Mudhoney.
"There's been a few e-mails exchanged and a few jokes around how
we'll get our hair that boastfully and long once more," he said. "We power totally
feature to go in for weaves. If we got together and wrote a duet of
songs and put come out a one, that'd be to a greater extent important to me than
playing a show; scarcely getting in a way unitedly."
